March 2013 Update

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has recently published a revised set of guidelines that impact the blogging community especially those of us who write product reviews. We have been advised to detail our product sources at the beginning and end of each post.

Going forward, at the beginning of each post I will include a button that clearly indicates how I acquired the featured product or service:
  • Purchase - I bought the item with my own funds.
  • Store Sample - I was given a product sample, or I received a gift with purchase.
  • Gift - A friend or family member gave me the item.
  • Press Sample - I received a product sample from a PR or company press representative.
If I'm not reviewing a product or service, I'll use a "Nothing to Disclose" button.

And at the end of my post, I'll continue to list this same source information in the label section (I've been doing this since 2009). It is grouped together with the product categories.

While this may not the most elegant solution, I believe it will meet my obligations to the FTC and to you my readers.

And just FYI...I'm a self-confessed beauty junkie, but I am in no way an expert in this field. I'm just an ordinary gal who loves trying new products and sharing my honest opinions whether or not I truly loved what I reviewed.
