Two New Game Changers in My Skin Routine

Purchased

As much as I love trying new skin care stuff, I try not to experiment with multiple items simultaneously. Why? It's too hard to identify which product is working well or wreaking havoc. (You know it can go either way!) Instead, I usually rotate one item into the routine for a couple of weeks and see how it works out. Well...I broke my own rule last month. I tried two new items concurrently, Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover and Vitamin C Serum.

If you're not familiar with One Love Organics, it's a small cosmetic company that is focused on providing 100% pure, organic, preservative-free formulas. I love the company's philosophy, "Our philosophy is focused on a few supreme products—not up-selling a medicine cabinet full of mysterious jars. We give skin what it needs, using only ingredients that provide direct benefits." Amen to that! So let's get right on to the products...

Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover

This is an oil-based cleanser with a twist! If you've followed my posts for some time, you know I love a good oil cleanser. I find these formulas remove every iota of makeup without stripping the skin. I know some folks like to follow them with a regular cleanser, but for me it's rather pointless as my skin is already clean. The problem is that nothing has come anything close in quality and performance to my much beloved (and WAY overpriced) Eve Lom Cleanser. The "twist" part of this cleanser is that it also incorporates papain, a fruit enzyme that helps to exfoliate and soften skin, and a natural Vitamin B complex to detoxify and tone. In other words, you're getting gentle exfoliation on top of the cleanser to help keep those pores uber clean.

When I started using the product, I used it at night only and rotated it every couple of days with my Eve Lom Cleanser since it was nearly full. Honestly...I really didn't notice any difference in my skin when I used one or the other product.

My only gripe was the product's pump. My initial one didn't seem to work properly, but the company quickly sent me a free replacement. Well...the second one doesn't seem much better. It either dispenses too little or too much product. But I'm guessing that it's probably something to do with my bottle. It is not a showstopper for me by no means. The product is still amazing! (It retails for $38.00.)

Vitamin C Serum

Of the two products, Vitamin C Serum is the one I was most excited to try. For years I've been trying to add a Vitamin C product into my routine for its protective benefits, but I struggled to find a formula that would agree with my sensitive skin until now.

Why is this product so different? I learned that Vitamin C Serum uses Vitamin C ester instead of water-soluble ascorbic acid, which is the typical form used in most skin care products. According to the company, "Unlike water-soluble ascorbic acid, fat-soluble vitamin C ester displays greater antioxidant activity and performs at much lower doses." (If you want more details, check out this blog post by One Love Organics."

Bottom line...it is working beautifully with my skin! I apply the serum the morning after a quick splash of cool water and then follow with my regular moisturizer. Because it is oil-based, I do find that I need less moisturizer especially on humid days. If you're oily or even combo, you may be able to skip your moisturizer altogether. Just be sure to wear your sunscreen!

I'm finding that my skin is smoother, less reactive and in perfect balance (not overly dry or oily). Bravo. (It retails for $68.00.)

Overall...I'm quite pleased with both products and will definitely reorder as soon as they run out. I'm also eager to try more products in this beautiful line.
