The Toughest Eye Shadow on the Block: Trish McEvoy 24-Hour Eye Shadow & Liner (New Shade: Smokey Quartz)

Summer proofing our makeup is no small task. Between the heat and humidity, there are days when I just want to throw in the towel and go bare faced especially when it comes to eye makeup.

However, I've rediscovered a brilliant eye pencil — Trish McEvoy 24-Hour Shadow and Liner — that applies like butter, but does not budge all day. I first found this tough guy in 2010 when it was first released, and I've used it rather inconsistently...mostly for travel when I wanted a portable, multi-tasker.

Well...I've become reacquainted with this old friend now that it comes in the new color Smokey Quartz. If you're familiar with Trish's Glaze Eye Shadows, Smokey Quartz will remind you of her Raisin shade, which is a popular brownish plum color with subtle shimmer. Smokey Quartz is a little lighter in hue and perhaps a bit more sparkly, but not over-the-top glittery.

I've been applying a generous stroke of Smokey Quartz just above my winged liner. It fills about 1/2 of my lid and really makes my dark hazel eyes pop! I love that it's both neutral and shimmery and pairs with any other makeup combination I choose. And...it easily transfers from casual day wear to evening. Best of all, if you apply it in the morning it will carry you throughout the day. No touch up required.

Purchase info: Trish McEvoy 24-Hour Shadow and Liner (in Smokey Quartz) is available at Trish counters and online. It retails for $32.00.
